Adult protection law
In the German-speaking legal area, adult protection law is the sum of the legal regulations that include the protection and care of adults who have health impairments that prevent them from acting in legal dealings without the help of a third party.
When it comes to international regulations for the German-speaking area, the following should primarily be considered:
- The Hague Convention on the International Protection of Adults
- The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Domestic regulations are
- in Germany the law on childcare (since January 1, 1992)
- in Austria adult protection law (from July 1, 2018)
- in Switzerland the law of assistance (since January 1, 2013)
