Oberschöneweide, until 1950

In the 1946/47 season, Wax and his teammates from Köpenick, SG Oberschöneweide, won the season in the second division in Berlin and thus rose to the 1947/48 round in the then all-Berlin city league. On February 9, 1947, the second-rate Oberschöneweider won the cup final against the eventual Berlin champions SG Wilmersdorf 4: 3 after extra time. Wax stormed alongside fellow attackers Walter Sowade, Paul Decker, Werner Fiedler and Josef Zöllner on the left wing. The cup was defended on April 25, 1948 with a 3-1 in the replay against SG Charlottenburg.

In the second city league season, 1948/49, the "Elf von Sadowa" landed in third place behind SG Wilmersdorf (BSV 92) and SG Charlottenburg (Tennis Borussia). In that round, Wax had scored ten goals. In the third year, 1949/50, Tennis Borussia prevented the second championship success, the team from Wuhlheide was runner-up under coach Johannes Sobek . Center forward Heinz Rogge was the top scorer with 29 goals and Wax had played 24 league games. In protest, Union Ob had already played its home games in the Post Stadium in West Berlin's Tiergarten district from March 1950. The introduction of contract football in West Berlin had caused the East Berliners DS to withdraw the team from the joint Berlin City League. After winning the runner-up, Oberschöneweide played the game for the finals of the German soccer championship on May 28, 1950 in Kiel against Hamburger SV without the consent of East Berlin's DS. In the formation with Gerhard Wittke (goalkeeper), the defenders Erhard Bolduan and Richard Strehlow , the runner row Günther Schulz, Herbert Stelter and Kurt Senglaub, as well as the attack with Erwin Wax, Manfred Seidel, Heinz Rogge, Paul Salisch and Heinz Lehninger was the game lost with 0: 7.

On June 9, 1950, the new club SC Union 06 Berlin was founded in West Berlin and was eligible to play in the Berlin City League. The Wax team lost the cup final on June 14th with 0: 2 against champions Tennis Borussia. On March 26, 1950 Wax had represented the city selection Berlin in the game against Saxony (2-0) on the right wing.

In the 1952/53 season Wax started with his blue-whites with a 0-2 away defeat against Spandauer SV. It remained the only defeat of the round for Union 06, so that the championship was played out with 40: 8 points ahead of Spandauer SV and defending champion Tennis Borussia with 31:17 points each with coach Helmuth Krüger. In the final round of the German championship, however, the competitors of Hamburger SV, VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund proved to be clearly superior. With 1:11 points, Union finished fourth in the group stage.

The title defense did not succeed in 1953/54 with reaching third rank and in the second half of 1956/57 Wax said goodbye with the game on April 14, 1957 at Tasmania 1900 Berlin (2: 1) as an active player from the city league.
