Archbishop's Seminary Hollabrunn

The Erzbischöfliche Realgymnasium and Aufbaugymnasium Hollabrunn is a Realgymnasium and Aufbaugymnasium in Hollabrunn , Lower Austria . Since September 2010 the school has also been a UNESCO school .

history

The secondary school in Hollabrunn was founded in the 1974/75 school year by the then rector of the Archbishop's Seminary in Hollabrunn , Johann Kurz , and the religion teacher at the time, Hans Groër .

The classes are housed in the building of the Hollabrunn seminar.

In the 1998/99 school year, a lower level was started, which is run as a Realgymnasium. From this school year the school will be called the Archbishop's Real and Advanced High School Hollabrunn .

Purpose of starting the school

The school maintainer is the Archdiocese of Vienna. It is a private school with public rights.

Due to the school form of a secondary school, 14-year-olds should also be able to enter the Hollabrunn boys' seminar after graduating from secondary school and those working late . Right from the start, the school was also open to external students and girls.

Specialty of the school

The subjects human biology and human psychology are offered as the only grammar school in Austria . These extraordinary subjects provide insights into important aspects of the human psyche and the human body. In human psychology, for example, the students deal with the subject of depression; in human biology, for example, they deal with the information systems of the human body, the nervous and hormonal systems. Special attention is paid to the networking of psychological and biological aspects and the mutual interactions are analyzed.

Number of students

The first school year started with one class (21 students, 7 female students). In the 1977/78 school year, 5 classes (transition class, 5th to 8th grade) were fully expanded. Up to the 1997/98 school year, an average of 150 pupils attended the Aufbaugymnasium. With the opening of the lower school in the 1998/99 school year, the number of students increased. The number 400 was exceeded for the first time in the 2002/03 school year.

If the ratio of boys to girls was around 2: 1 at the beginning, a tie was reached for the first time in the 1990/91 school year. In the following years the proportion of girls increased more and more. Currently (2010) the school is attended by around two thirds girls and one third boys.
