Archangel artificial moat
The Erzengler Kunstgraben is a former mining facility in Johanngeorgenstadt , Erzgebirgskreis , Saxony .
It is an approx. 4 km long artificial ditch west of the Schwefelwerk district not far from the Hohlbauer artificial ditch . The plant was built under the supervision of the Johanngeorgenstadt Mining Authority in the 18th century. The ditch supplied the urgently needed process water to the pits in this area, but was only poorly maintained during the First World War and was ultimately left to decay. Its remains can hardly be seen in the area today.
