The St. Orann Chapel in its current state

The village of Eschweiler is a disappeared place ( desert ) on the Saargau between Berus and Berviller (F). The former parsonage did not disappear in 1566 AD in the course of the Peasant Wars when the occupation soldiers withdrew from Montclair Castle near Mettlach, as described several times during the Thirty Years' War. The former small parish church of the village was the only building that remained and is known today as the St. Oranna Chapel . The bones of Saint Oranna and her companion Cirilla were brought to Berus in 1718.
