Eschweiler ( Luxembourgish Eeschwëller ) is a village in the Luxembourg municipality of Wiltz . Until the end of 2014, Eschweiler was the capital of the municipality of the same name, which belonged to the canton of Wiltz .

Merger with Wiltz

In a referendum on April 25, 2014, 54.25% of the population voted for a merger with the city of Wiltz . 76.7% of the Wiltzer also spoke out in favor of a merger.

The merger was approved by the Luxembourg Parliament on December 17, 2014 and came into force on January 1, 2015.
