Eschweiler refined
Eschweiler Raffiné is the trade name used until 1960 for the soft lead produced in the Binsfeldhammer lead works . The lead smelter was owned by the Eschweiler Society from 1848 to 1929 , which explains the name that was used until 1960, although the smelter was located in the Stolberg area and is still there today. In the 19th century, the finished product was traded in 36- inch long, trough-shaped bars (called "troughs") weighing 140 pounds .
