Esedinghausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Esedinghausen is a desert near the village of Dunau in the area of the city of Seelze in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

history

The village Esedinghausen is mentioned for the first time in a fiefdom register of the Dukes Otto and Wilhelm von Braunschweig-Lüneburg from the years 1330 to 1352 as a fiefdom of Stacius von Reden . Later entries also use the spellings Esedingherhusen and Esedinghehusen . The analysis of the place name suggests an emergence around the 9th century.

Esedinghausen was in the vicinity of today's Dunau estate, south of today's Seelz district of Lathwehren . The existence of the village is documented up to the year 1360, which in the following time became desolate. The exact point in time is unknown, as a document of the area is only available again from 1558 when the Dunau estate was enfeoffed to Ernst von Alten .

In 1984, many ceramic shards, including a spherical pot , from the 12th to 14th centuries were found in the corridor at Gut Dunau . Some field names in the vicinity of Dunau such as “Behind the Small Houses” indicate earlier development and the possible location of the village.
