Esko , formerly EskoArtwork, is a graphics company that manufactures prepress software and hardware for packaging companies, labels, signs and displays, and publishing houses.
history
Esko emerged from a merger between BarcoGraphics and Purup-Eskofot A / S in 2001. The resulting company was called Esko-Graphics and then renamed Esko in 2006. In autumn 2005 Esko was acquired by Axcel A / S, a Danish private equity investment company.
In August 2007, Esko announced that the company was merging with Artwork Systems Group NV (AWS), its former largest competitor in the prepress packaging market. Esko initially bought 76.69 percent of the shares in AWS for 196 million euros. Enfocus, a PDF preflight and workflow software brand that Artwork Systems originally acquired in 2000, became a subsidiary of the combined EskoArtwork company.
After the merger, Esko was renamed EskoArtwork. The company introduced a new logo, even if visually very similar to the Esko original.
In January 2011, 100 percent of the EskoArtwork shares were transferred to Danaher , and in January 2012 the company was renamed back to Esko; the logo has also been updated. Esko acquired CAPE Systems (a palletizing software provider) in 2013, MediaBeacon (a digital resource management provider) in 2015, and Blue Software, LLC, a label and graphics management software provider in 2018.
Esko's headquarters are in Ghent , Belgium .
