The Esmarkbreen is a 15-kilometer-long glacier in Oscar II land on Spitzbergen ( Svalbard ). It is named after the Danish geologist Jens Esmark and is part of the Nordre-Isfjorden National Park . The Esmarkbreen calves in Ymer Bay, part of the Isfjord .

The Esmarkbreen has an up to 25 meters high, almost vertical edge in many places, where the blue shimmering ice from inside the glacier can be clearly seen. The glacier is therefore a popular summer destination for tourist boats from Longyearbyen . In August 2012, a tourist was killed by falling chunks of ice after her group came within a few meters of the edge of the break in a rubber dinghy .
