The Essen Citizens' Alliance (EBB) is a group of voters in the city of Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The group of voters was founded on March 3, 2004 in Essen. It contains former Social Democrats, Christian Democrats and Alliance Greens.
Strength
In the XIV. North Rhine-Westphalian municipal elections on September 26, 2004, the Essen Citizens' Alliance with 4 members was elected to the Essen Council and achieved parliamentary strength . In the course of the same term of office, two council members converted to the Essen FDP, so that the EBB lost its parliamentary group status and only forms one council group.
The Essen citizens' alliance did not take part in the election for the 16th Bundestag on September 18, 2005. After the local elections in 2009, the EBB moved back into the Essen city council with 3 councilors. Together with the CDU, the FDP and the Greens, they form the so-called "four-alliance" of the council.

Content
The Essen Citizens' Alliance is committed to the consolidation of the highly indebted city treasury. To this end, urban services are to be adapted to the declining population of the city of Essen (optimized through modern technologies and, if necessary, saved). In addition, the EBB advocates a precise analysis of long-term unemployment in Essen, which, in contrast to other regions, benefits only below average from the improving employment market in Germany. The EBB is in favor of closer cooperation between the cities in the Ruhr area. The EBB criticizes the outsourcing of many urban companies, whose control has thus been withdrawn from the city council. The Essen Citizens' Alliance sees itself as a citizen representation ("Essen belongs to the citizens and not to the politicians") and tries to break through the old structures ("party felt").

Neue Ruhr Zeitung , April 10, 2008, accessed on July 7, 2015 : “Anyway, three and a half years ago the troop, the ex-Social Democrats, ex-CDU members and ex-Greens as well as political newcomers, were white in their ranks , the "citizen fright" on the political floor: a respectable 10,526 votes were collected for the local elections across the city, which was enough for four councilors, for at least one post in each of the nine district representations and for the parliamentary group status, which also helped financially support the work. But how won, so melted away: The internal dispute and the subsequent exit and transition of two EBB councilors to the FDP brought the crash after the soaring. "We had to get along with ourselves first," says Brigitte Wawrowsky, a former Social Democrat who had to give up her council mandate because she moved to nearby Langenberg. "
