The Estadio Modelo Alberto Spencer Herrera is a multifunctional stadium in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil .
The stadium, which can hold 42,000 or 45,000 spectators depending on the source, was opened on July 24, 1959 and is owned by the Federación Deportiva del Guayas (Fedeguayas) . It serves mainly as a football stadium and is the venue for the Rocafuerte FC games . The stadium , which was originally opened as Estadio Modelo Guayaquil , has been named after Ecuador's football idol Alberto Spencer since his death in 2006 .
Gloria Estefan gave her first concert in Ecuador as part of her 90 Millas World Tour and was also the first international artist to perform in this stadium.
