The Estadio Pedro Marrero is a sports stadium in Havana , Cuba . 18,000 of the total of 28,000 seats are covered. The surface of the square consists of turf, the running track is a plastic track .

Surname

Initially, the Gran Estadio Cervecería Tropical stadium , or mostly “La Tropical ??” for short, was called. After the revolution, it got its current name. It commemorates Pedro Marrero Aizpurúa, who was killed in the attack on Moncada barracks on July 26, 1953.

Events

Most of the football matches are played in the stadium today. It is the home ground of the Cuban national soccer team and the national team of the province of Havana playing in the championship league. In the past there have been repeated college football games and Cuban baseball league fixtures .

In 2008, in the second qualifying round for the 2008 Caribbean Football Championship, the Group G games took place at the Estadio Pedro Marrero.
