Life

Rojo got involved with dance at an early age and took a number of courses. After graduating from school and winning several regional beauty competitions, she moved to Buenos Aires in 1954 and worked as a dancer in the "Maipo Theater". She was also quickly in demand as a photo model. In 1955 she made her debut as an actress with a small role in Pobre, pero honrado by Carlos Rinaldi ; apart from two other appearances, the breakthrough did not succeed.

In 1959 she was hired by manager Mark Bronenberg to Spain, where she played alongside Margarita Padin and Guido May Gorgatti in a musical at the “Teatro Cómico” in Barcelona , which also went on tour around the country. Rojo then received several film offers and stayed in Europe. In addition to her cinema appearances, she played with Walter Chiari at the Lido in Paris in 1961 . Soon after, she guest starred two episodes of the Boris Karloff Show in the United States, and in 1962 she was shooting for television and films in Mexico. Later that year, back in Spain, she founded her own theater company with Horace Beard and performed three plays at the Teatro Martín in Madrid. In addition to her stage work, she was repeatedly seen in films

Rojo, who had gone back to her homeland for a short time in 1970, returned to Buenos Aires in 1973. There, alongside her sister Gogó Rojo , she brought her best-known work, El Maipo Super Star , which surprised with a shocking end, on stage. Now a big star, Rojo was able to continue her career with dancing elegance and beauty on variety stages, in the theater and numerous television series as well as in the cinema. 1997 saw her in another great success, Pobres angelitas , and in a few leading roles at the "Teatro Astros". All in all, she now reduced her output more and more, but remained active until her death.

Ethel Rojo was married to Gerardo Gonzalez from 1986.
