Euclydes Barbosa , called Jaú , (born December 7, 1909 in São Paulo , † February 26, 1988 ibid) was a Brazilian football player .
Career
Jaú is said to have started his career at a club called Scarpo from São Paulo . There is evidence that he played mainly for the Corinthians São Paulo . He is said to have played 143 games here in five years. With the club, the player won the São Paulo state championship once. After a bribery scandal, Jaú left the club for Rio de Janeiro . Here he joined the CR Vasco da Gama , to which he remained loyal for six years.
National team
Jaú had his first assignment at the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1937 . In the first game as well as the other five he ran as team captain . He lost this position at the 1938 World Cup . Here he played only one of the five tournament games. He received further assignments at the Copa Roca in 1940.
