Eugen Hänle

Eugen Hänle (born October 5, 1924 , † September 21, 1975 ) was a German engineer, glider builder and founder of Glasflügel Segelflugzeugbau GmbH.

Eugen Hänle and his wife Ursula founded the Glasflügel Segelflugzeugbau GmbH company in 1962 . Hänle was characterized by the innovative design of the gliders. There were also significant innovations in the field of technology (e.g. automatic rudder connections ). These innovations helped his company to achieve considerable economic success and a high reputation. Many of these innovations are now required for new developments. Glasflügel was the first company to manufacture more than 100 aircraft of one type in GRP construction.

Eugen Hänle died in an aircraft accident on September 21, 1975.

After Hänle's death, the company ran into financial difficulties, which led to a cooperation with the glider manufacturer Schempp-Hirth . The Glasflügel company was dissolved in 1982.

Awards

In 1976 Eugen Hänle was posthumously awarded the badge of the Organization Scientifique et Technique du Vol à Voile (OSTIV) .

Eugen Hänle was involved in the development of various glider models. Some models were designed by other designers, but made by Glasflügel.
