Eugene Rochko

Eugen Rochko is a German software developer who became known for the development of the distributed microblogging service Mastodon , the development of which he still leads today.

Life

During his youth Rochko worked on networks such as MySpace , SchülerVZ , Facebook , Twitter and ICQ . He later realized that you needed something that should work consistently, as he was disappointed with the previous networks that soon disappeared.

In early 2016, Rochko started working on Mastodon . He published it at the beginning of October 2016 after graduating from the University of Jena .

He later started implementing the Activity Pub protocol for Mastodon first .

Rochko now earns his living with Mastodon , as many fans support him through Patreon . At first he had to close his service because the number of users became too high.
