Eugen Studach

Eugen Studach (born November 18, 1907 ; † unknown) was a Swiss rower .

He won in 1932 his first Swiss title in one . At the European Rowing Championships in 1933 and 1935 Studach took second place in the single behind the Poland Roger Verey . For the Olympic Games in 1936 Studach could not qualify in one. Instead, he started in a double scull with Kurt Haas , but was eliminated in the semifinals. Studach achieved his greatest success in 1937, when he was European champion in the single, ahead of Josef Hasenöhrl and Roger Verey.

Eugen Studach rowed for the Grasshopper Club Zurich , his constant rivalry with Ernst Rufli from the Zurich rowing club shaped Swiss single rowing in the 1930s. Studach was unable to defend his title in 1938 because Rufli qualified. From 1939 to 1947 no European championships were held.

His son Martin Studach was a successful rower in the 1960s.
