Eugene Bogomolny

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eugene B. Bogomolny , is a Russian mathematical physicist living in France, who is particularly concerned with quantum chaos and its applications in number theory (also in the context of the Riemann Hypothesis ).

Life

He is at the Laboratory for Theoretical Physics and Statistical Models (LPTMS) at the University of Paris-South .

The BPS bound in soliton theory is named after him, Manoj Prasad and Charles Sommerfield (with applications in supersymmetric field theories). In 1975, all three authors described magnetic monopoles (for non-Belian gauge groups) of charge 1 as the solution of the later so-called Bogomolny equations.

In 1998 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (Spectral Statistics).
