The Eulenspiegel is a historic cinema in the southeast quarter of the independent city of Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The Eulenspiegel was opened in 1955. Since then there have been regular film screenings here. The building was designed by the architect Hanns Rüttgers in a functional style. The interior furnishings from the 1950s have been completely preserved and, together with the building, the ticket booth with stairs and the original lettering above the entrance area, have been a listed building since September 2000 . Since 1980, the Eulenspiegel is a cinema .

technology

The Eulenspiegel, which offers 400 seats, offers not only the digital projection that is customary today, but also the possibility of showing analog films in 35 mm and 70 mm on the large screen. The cinema has a stage and a Wurlitzer organ to accompany silent films.
