When several cities on the island rose against Kydon and could not be defeated, the ruler asked the oracle how he could best cope with the situation. In response to the fact that a virgin had to be sacrificed to the national heroes, he had her determined by lot, which fell on Eulimene. Lykastus wanted to prevent her sacrifice by confessing his love affair with her, but now it was decided to die. After her killing, her body was opened on her father's instructions, and it turned out that she was actually pregnant. Apteros was very angry about this and murdered Lykastus, but had to flee to Xanthos of Termera in Caria for this crime .
