Eun-Hwa Cho

Eun-Hwa Cho (* 1973 in Pusan , South Korea ) is a South Korean musician, composer and university lecturer living in Germany.

Life

Eun-Hwa Cho grew up in South Korea and began studying at Seoul National University after graduating from high school . After successfully completing this, she continued her studies in Berlin in the fields of composition and music theory, among others with Hanspeter Kyburz and Jörg Mainka . Since then she has lived mainly in Germany and has her place of residence in Berlin.

Eun-Hwa Cho's own compositions were used at many concerts, festivals and other events, such as the Arcana Festival , Ultrasound Festival, Music Today 21 festivals, Musical Olympus and the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. Some well-known orchestras and ensembles performed their compositions, including ensemble recherche, Ensemble intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Tokyo Sinfonietta, Orchester National de Belgique , KBS Symphony Orchestra and the Arditti Quartet. For her works she was awarded the Busoni Composition Prize in 2008 and first prize in the International Queen Elisabeth Composition Competition in Belgium in 2009.

In 2014 and 2015 Eun-Hwa Cho worked at the South Korean Keimyung University of Daegu as an assistant professor . In 2015 she worked as a visiting professor again in Germany at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. Eun-Hwa Cho was appointed professor of composition at the university for the 2017 summer semester.
