Euphorbia bariensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia bariensis forms densely branched shrubs up to a height of 90 centimeters. The shoots are covered with a thick layer of wax, and there are downy hairs on the tips of young shoots. The succulent and egg-shaped leaves are 3 millimeters long and 1.5 millimeters wide. They are seated, also covered with downy hair and short-lived. The stipules are glandular.

The inflorescence consists of three to five, in clusters at the shoot tips standing cymene . These are almost seated and covered with downy hair. The cyathia are 2 millimeters in size and the five separate nectar glands are colored red. The spherical fruit is about 5 millimeters tall and stands on a 2 millimeter long stem. The egg-shaped seed has an appendage and is 2.8 millimeters long and 1.8 millimeters wide. It has a smooth surface.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia bariensis is widespread in north-eastern Somalia on slopes with limestone and flat shrubbery at altitudes of 110 to 1340 meters.

The species was first described in 1992 by Susan Carter Holmes .
