Euphorbia capuronii is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia capuronii forms strongly branched shrubs up to 1 meter in height. The lanceolate leaves are in clusters at the end of the short side shoots and are up to 50 millimeters long and 8 millimeters wide. On the short side shoots are very densely arranged stipple spines. These are up to 2 centimeters long and underneath them there is another, shorter spike.

The inflorescence consists of very close together cymes that are 3 to 5-fold bifurcated. They stand on peduncles up to 3.2 centimeters long. The upright and pointed cyathophylls are 6 millimeters wide and 5 millimeters long. They are covered with downy hairs, colored green and envelop the small cyathia . The nectar glands are colored yellow. The bluntly lobed ovary is provided with downy hairs.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia capuronii is widespread in the south-west of Madagascar , in the region of Mahafaly. The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered endangered (Vulnerable).

The species was first described in 1955 by Eugène Ursch and Jacques Désiré Leandri .
