Euphorbia comosa is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia comosa forms shrub-like herbs up to 50 centimeters high. Branches are forked with thin and curved shoots that are somewhat succulent and slightly roughened. The broadly lanceolate leaves are up to 10 centimeters long and have a stalk about 2 centimeters long.

The inflorescence consists of five to seven elongated ears twisted in one direction , which appear terminal and axillary. These are up to 4 centimeters long. Five to seven round bracts are formed. These are fused together at the base, overlap and are yellowish green in color. The cyathia are almost sedentary. The nectar glands have broadly egg-shaped petal-like appendages. The almost spherical fruit contains the egg-shaped seeds, which are up to 3 millimeters in size.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia comosa is common in the east of Brazil .

The first description of the species was in 1829 by José Mariano da Conceição Vellozo .
