Euphorbia dasyacantha is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia dasyacantha grows with individual shoots that branch out towards the tip. The half-length creeping shoots are up to 20 centimeters long and in the lower part, up to 10 centimeters long, they are covered with small, closely spaced warts. These are up to 2 millimeters in size and are in 10 to 12 rows on the shoot. The upper branches reach a diameter of up to 1.5 centimeters and are also covered with clearly visible and round warts. They are 5 millimeters apart and are arranged in 7 rows that are separated by clear indentations. The round thorn shields are 0.5 millimeters in size. Very thin thorns and secondary leaf thorns are formed that are up to 6 millimeters long and are intertwined. Further up on the shoot there are obovate thorn shields that are 4 millimeters wide and 3.5 millimeters long. They stand individually. The thorns in these shoot sections are very different, they are 2 to 15 millimeters long, the stipple spines up to 1.5 millimeters long.
Single and simple cymes are formed with two to three lateral cyathia up to 2.5 millimeters in size . The nectar glands stand individually. The clearly lobed fruit is 2 millimeters long and 2.5 millimeters wide. It is located on a bent back and 3.5 millimeter long handle. The egg-shaped seed becomes 1 millimeter long and 1.5 millimeters wide. The surface is covered with very small warts.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia dasyacantha is distributed in the northeast of Somalia on steep, rocky limestone slopes with very loose shrub vegetation ( Commiphora ) at an altitude of 400 meters.
