Eureka Brass Band

The Eureka Brass Band was a brass band and marching band based in New Orleans . It was founded in 1920 by the trumpeter Willie Wilson , who directed it until 1937, then by Dominique "T-Bone" Remy. From 1946 onwards it was directed by trumpeter Percy Humphrey for almost thirty years (until 1967 the official director, assisted by trumpeter Eddie Richardson).

To her belonged Kid Sheik Cola , Kid Shots Madison and 1922/23 George Lewis , who was also with her first recordings in August 1951. In the post-war years, Percy Humphrey's brothers Willie (alto saxophonist and clarinetist) and Earl (trombone) also played, trombonist Albert Warner and Peter Bocage .

Your Grand Marshal at parades in the 1960s were, among others, Alcide Pavageau and Danny Barker . They were a marching band that also played at funerals like Buddy Petit's in 1931, Papa Celestin in 1954, and George Lewis in 1969.

In 1965 they were seen and heard in the film Cincinnati Kid with Steve McQueen . In 1966 they recorded for Jazzology. In 1970 they played at the first New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival , Mahalia Jackson sang with them on the parade, and also on its offshoot in Newport. From the end of the 1960s, they only met again on special occasions.
