Member of the Bundestag (2016-2017)

In the 2013 Bundestag election , Coße initially ran unsuccessfully as a direct candidate in the constituency of Steinfurt III . On September 1, 2016, however, he became a member of the 18th German Bundestag as a successor on the state list of the SPD NRW . He replaced Petra Hinz , who resigned from her mandate on August 31, 2016. Coße was subsequently a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee for a year , where he took over the responsibilities of the retired Peer Steinbrück . He was also a deputy member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and a member of the United Nations subcommittee.

In the 2017 federal election , Coße ran as in 2013 in the constituency of Steinfurt III and, as a direct candidate, was again defeated by his rival Anja Karliczek ( CDU ), who received 44.77% of the votes, with 30.29% of the first votes. In the absence of a promising place on the list and due to the performance of his party, Coße missed the re-entry and thus resigned from the Bundestag.
