tasks
Euro foreign language correspondents are people who deal with written or oral business transactions in at least one foreign language . Your task is to translate or write foreign-language texts with a special commercial focus in a professional, precise and linguistically appealing manner. You write business letters according to dictation or a collection of key words or you compose routine correspondence from stored text modules . In doing so, however, they must comply with the formal regulations and design practices that apply in the countries of the respective addressees. They also often make phone calls in the respective foreign language and sometimes have to take on interpreting tasks in business negotiations and meetings. The basis is that they have knowledge of at least one foreign language. At most, you have to master two foreign languages (other languages are often possible as electives), usually the English language is a basic requirement. They also need to have business skills.
Training / recognition
Since the training is carried out at state or state-recognized vocational schools, there are sometimes slight deviations in the specific training content and qualifications, depending on the federal state. In Bavaria, for example, “state-certified foreign language correspondents” are trained. As part of the introduction of the European and German qualifications framework, the training is assigned to level 4 and is therefore on a par with 3–3.5-year in-company training.
