Eurocode (medicine)
Eurocode IBLS ( Eurocode International Blood Labeling System ) is the name of a European standard for classification and identity assurance for blood products and tissue preparations. The introduction of the new product labeling takes place in the implementation of the "Directive 2002/98 / EC" of the European Parliament , in which all member states of the European Union were obliged to introduce a uniform labeling system for blood products.
history
The Eurocode IBLS is a standard-compliant test mark for blood bank numbers according to ISO 7064. Its introduction took place in 1998 on the recommendation of the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology (DGTI) . In 2007 the blood working group (AK Blood) promoted the use of the Eurocode. In one of his votes in Germany , this codification for cellular blood products has been in effect for the entire national territory since 2009.
application
According to this standard, each preparation intended for transfusion is assigned a unique number . This consists of an international and a national part. In most countries, the national part is also made up of the institute identification and the institute's internal can number. The number also contains a check digit . An internal canned product serial number (the UPN-Unique Product Identification Number ) is assigned during the production of the blood supply ( blood donation ) . This process is the responsibility of the blood manufacturer. This results in a clear identification of the canned food within production. The code is intended to ensure that it is always clear which institute prepared and issued the blood reserve.
