European Microwave Week

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Microwave Week ( English European Microwave Week in short, EuMW ) is an international scientific conference . It is dedicated to all aspects of microwave technology .

history

The first European Microwave Week took place in Amsterdam in 1998 . It thus placed itself in the tradition of the European Microwave Conference (EuMC) , which has been held since 1969 and which was absorbed into it. Since the exhibition belonging to the EuMC conference had shrunk over the years, the organizers took this as an opportunity to expand the subject area and thus increase the attractiveness of the event. Therefore, in addition to the EuMC , the GaAs (conference with a focus on gallium arsenide as a semiconductor material) and the wireless (conference on wireless transmission methods) were bundled into the newly created European Microwave Week. Today, the EuMC together with the European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMIC) for integrated circuits and the European Radar Conference (EuRAD) for radar technology form the current EuMW .

In contrast to the earlier EuMC , which took place in many different cities, including the smaller countries in Europe , the EuMW focuses on Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and the Netherlands, which are particularly important for the microwave industry and - with the exception of Germany - is mostly in their capitals (see also venues ).

The International Microwave Symposium held there annually by the IEEE can be viewed as a counterpart to the EuMW in the United States .
