Today's buildings

The Europäische Hof is a former hotel building in Bad Soden am Taunus . It was on Königsteiner Strasse .

history

The Europäische Hof was built as a spa hotel in 1845. In 1855 the building was bought by Mr. Phillip Colloseus. Before that he was the tenant of the Kurhaus am Alten Kurpark . In 1860, the so-called "Russian Year", many Russians were guests in the hotel, such as the poet Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev .

Until 1909 the Europäische Hof consisted of two buildings, which were separated by a small garden. In 1911, however, an intermediate building was added to connect the two buildings. Furthermore, the two buildings were raised by 1-2 storeys.

In the two world wars, the building was confiscated by the respective occupiers. The French lived here after the First World War , and the Americans during the Second World War . In 1959 the building was returned to the federal government, which sold it immediately. In 1965 it was demolished and replaced by a modern building. Today there is a residential building and a small commercial area that was used by the Schlecker drugstore chain until summer 2012 .

Until it was demolished in 1965, the building had a huge garden. This was completely replaced by modern block developments.
