European Classic Festival Ruhr

The European Classical Festival is a classical music festival that has been held every summer since 1998 in the northern Ruhr area and the neighboring Münsterland . Both internationally known musicians and up-and-coming artists bring different facets of classical music to the fore on several match days and at changing locations. The aim of the festival is to promote classical music and make music together with artists from all over Europe. Several well-known local companies, associations and institutions are sponsoring the European Classical Festival.

Concerts

Every year around 80 concerts take place at several locations in the Ruhr area. These range from urban schools or old people's homes, through castles, palaces, churches and chapels along the Lippe to well-known event locations - preferably industrial culture - such as u. a. the Oberhausen Gasometer , the Herne Cultural Center , the Ruhrfestspielhaus in Recklinghausen or the Yehudi-Menuhin-Forum in Marl. The events are summarized in concert series, each intended to give a different target audience an impression of classical music:

  • "Ars musica ad Lupiam" (chamber and church concerts along the Lippe)
  • "Classic for Kiga", "Classic for Kids", "Classic for Teens" (children and youth concerts in kindergartens and schools)
  • "MusiA." (Concerts in retirement homes)
  • "Midsummer Night's Dreams" and "Night of Glory" (symphony concerts)
