European Space Research Institute

The European Space Research Institute (Engl. European Space Research Institute - ESRIN ), the European Institute for Space Research of the European Space Agency (ESA), established in Frascati , Italy . It was founded in 1966 and has been ESA's headquarters for earth observation missions since 2004 (e.g. Envisat , ERS-1 , ERS-2 , Sentinel missions ). The data obtained are collected here, processed and forwarded to the (partly commercial) end users.

  • Head of the Vega program ( solid rocket for small satellites )
  • Development, construction and maintenance of the ESA information system
  • Operation of a telecommunications laboratory
  • Operation of the European Center for Space Records (ESA documentation center)
  • Operation of the ESA web portal
  • Operation of the coordination center for near-earth objects .
