Europe 7

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Europa 7 is the name of an Italian pay-TV operator of the media entrepreneur Francesco Di Stefano with a license for nationwide terrestrial broadcasting in 1999. The station then won a tender before the program Rete 4 of the Mediaset group of Silvio Berlusconi . Accordingly, Rete 4 should have vacated its terrestrial broadcasting slot in favor of Europe 7.

It wasn't until much later, after a channel reorganization in Italy (the channel grid of Western Europe is now used), that VHF band III on channel 8 was broadcast almost nationwide in a single- frequency network in the successor standard DVB-T2 . The programs (some in HD) are encrypted and can only be viewed with a subscription.

In June 2012, the Italian state was obliged to pay Europa 7 compensation of 10 million euros.
