The EuroparlTV is the official Internet TV transmitters of the European Parliament .
The aim of the station is to bring the activities of the European Parliament closer to the citizen and to make its work transparent and understandable, not least with a view to the European elections in 2009 . In addition, the medium of the Internet is intended to address and interest young people. The program is offered - partly as voice-over , partly with subtitles - in 23 languages, which is a worldwide specialty.

Broadcasting was started on September 17th, 2008 by the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering . The British company TwoFour Digital was commissioned to set up the web platform, the Brussels company Mostra is responsible for the content . The station is financed from the budget of the European Parliament, the costs are estimated at nine million euros annually.
format
Four programs can be seen on EuroparlTV, which are characterized as follows:
- Your Parliament is aimed at viewers with a specific interest in politics at EU level, e.g. B. knowledgeable citizens, associations, social partners, lobbyists, academics and employees of the EU institutions.
- Your voice is tailored to the needs of the general public and offers the option of publishing audience contributions.
- Young Europe is primarily aimed at children of school age, i.e. high internet users and the European voters of the future.
- Parliament LIVE provides continuous coverage of live Parliament events, particularly plenary sessions, with a link to the audiovisual archives of previous sessions as well as the work of the committees in the coming months. The live broadcast is only offered in wmv format and is therefore only available under Windows and MacOS, but not under Linux.
In addition, archived articles should be available on demand .
