European Association of Business Process Management

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Association of Business Process Management GbR (EABPM) is an association of legally independent national, European companies for the promotion of Business Process Management (BPM). She started her work in January 2006. In Germany the association is represented by the Society for Organization , in Austria by the Austrian Society for Organization and Management (ÖVO) and in Switzerland by the Swiss Society for Organization and Management (SGO). The EABPM does not pursue any commercial purposes of its own.

An intensive partnership is maintained with the American Association of Business Process Management Professionals (ABPMP).

Goals and purpose

The purpose of the association is to further develop and disseminate the ideas of Business Process Management (BPM), to bring the importance of this subject area closer to a broad, professionally relevant public and to promote professional implementation. The common knowledge platform Common Body of Knowledge (BPM CBOK) was created for this purpose. This is continuously developed and is the basis for the professional qualification of BPM experts. In each of the participating countries, an independent infrastructure for certification as a BPM professional has been set up according to largely uniform, internationally recognized standards. The EABPM serves to define common requirements and standards and to coordinate the respective country-specific activities.

The goals of the EABPM are:

  • Promotion of a high level of training for specialists in BPM
  • Clarification of the technical requirements for experts in BPM
  • Neutral, non-commercial services to promote BPM
  • Transparency about qualifications as a decision-making aid for clients of BPM projects.
  • Transparency about the range of tools for BPM
  • Dissemination of in-depth knowledge about BPM
  • Further development, consolidation and global standardization of all relevant BPM topics
  • Certification of experts in BPM on the basis of a globally recognized standard

history

From 2006 to 2009, work was carried out on the “Guide to the Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge” (BPM CBOK). This is a guide that forms the foundation of knowledge for BPM professionals. Since November 2009 the second version of the guide has also been available as a book. The third version of the BPM CBOK has been published since June 2014.

At the end of November 2009, the first German-language certification as a Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) was carried out in Zurich. With this exam, people can become experts in business process management. In addition to practical evidence, process management knowledge and contents of the BPM CBOK are tested in a multiple-choice test.
