The Gesellschaft für Organization eV ( proper spelling society for organization, abbreviated gfo ) is a non-profit association that sees itself as a competence network for organization and management . Members are individuals, companies and administrations. The seat of the company is in Sankt Augustin .

Goals and purpose

The Gesellschaft für Organization sees organization as an integral part of leadership and thus as a central task of management. Strategy, organization, culture and technology must be holistically coordinated. Internal and external specialists (consultants, in-house consultants , organizers , business analysts , personnel developers, project managers) can provide management with advice and support in performing these tasks.

The goals of the gfo are summarized in its guiding principles:

  • Organization of conferences at national and international level
  • Exchange of experience on a regional basis
  • Publication of the magazine leadership and organization
  • Collection and further development of organizational knowledge
  • Further training in the field of organization and management
  • Knowledge transfer between science and practice

history

The origins of the association can be found in the journal Organization, which has existed since 1898 (at that time the subtitle was still a journal for practical management, advertising and poster art, later from 1922 then a journal for business science, administrative practice and economic policy).

At the beginning of 1922, the Organizers Association was founded as the forerunner of today's Society for Organization in Berlin. Two member groups were formed within the association in 1925: a group MdO (members of the Organizers Association) and a group GfO (Society for Organization). The latter was originally intended - in contrast to the individual members of the MdO - for companies, corporations and partnerships.

On April 27, 1926, the Society for Organization eV (GfürO) was finally created by renaming the Organizers Association (with the help of the group name GfO).

The first edition of the Zeitschrift für Organization (ZfürO) appeared as the official organ of the GfürO in January 1927. During the Second World War , the ZfürO was only published every two months in a shortened version. There are no more references to activities of the GfürO. In the last war edition of the ZfürO on September 25, 1944, the management of the GfürO informed the members of the attitude of the ZfürO and the management of the GfürO for the duration of the war.

After the Second World War, former members contacted each other and on July 4, 1950, the GfürO in Frankfurt am Main was entered as a new seat in the local register of associations. In 2006 the gfo becomes a member and thus a German representative in the European Association of Business Process Management . With the guideline "Guide to the Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge" published in 2009 and the Certified Business Process Professional certification as BPM Professional, she presented a definition of the scope of knowledge relating to process management .

Events and organs

The gfo organizes expert groups and regional meetings in which various groups meet to exchange information and discuss current topics or deal with them.

The Society for Organization, together with its sister companies Austrian Association for Organization and Management (ÖVO) and Swiss Society for Organization and Management (SGO), publishes the magazine Leadership + Organization, the zfo . An internet portal on the subject of organization was formerly operated together with the SGO.

The gfo organizes the annual conference “gfo annual congress for organization” in autumn. Management Circle AG is the organizer and executive organizer.

The gfo has been organizing the Process Solutions Day since 2006. The PSD is a congress with contributions from providers and users on the subject of Business Process Management (BPM) as well as an accompanying exhibition from BPM solution manufacturers.
