European Cricket Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Cricket Council (ECC) is the European cricket umbrella organization.

ECC is financially and organizationally supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Marylebone Cricket Club , whose Lord's Cricket Ground in London is also the seat of the ECC. In 2005, the ECC took over the offices previously used by the International Cricket Council after the latter moved from London to Dubai .

The association was founded in 1997 as the successor organization to the European Cricket Federation . The big four (apart from England) of European cricket did not belong to this former association : Scotland, Ireland, Denmark and the Netherlands.

The ECC has 34 member associations (as of September 2018), around 17 more countries are so-called prospective members .
