The European Federation of Autonomic Societies (EFAS) is a scientific society that acts as an umbrella organization for all European national societies for research into the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is involved in a number of clinical diseases in several specialist areas (including neurology , internal medicine , urology, and others). The company is open to specialist subjects and, in addition to clinical activities, is also dedicated to basic research. EFAS was initiated in October 1998.

EFAS annual conference

EFAS holds a meeting once a year, which is coordinated each year by a different national autonomous society. The EFAS as an open-subject society with overlap with other special subjects and basic sciences held some of its annual meetings together with a related international society. Joint congresses were held with the International Society for Autonomic Neuroscience (2009, 2013, 2015), the European Federation of Neurological Societies (now the European Academy of Neurology ) (2008, 2012) and the American Autonomic Society (2004, 2007).

The 2018 congress is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of EFAS and will be held together with the International Congress of Nerve and Muscle Diseases . take place in Vienna.

education

EFAS has been organizing regular training events since 2009, initially supported by the European Federation of Neurological Societies.

EFAS saw a need to hold training events on a regular basis, as in many European countries there is no structured training for the evaluation of the autonomic nervous system and therefore interested doctors do not find guided access to the autonomous evaluation. The target group are consequently young, clinically active doctors who want to acquire specialist knowledge of the clarification and care of autonomic functional disorders. EFAS now organizes these trainings annually before or after the annual conference ( EFAS School ).

Scientific organ

The official organ of the society is Clinical Autonomic Research .
