The European Peace University (EPU) offered courses in the field of peace and conflict research at the Stadtschlaining location . Between March 31, 2010 and July 11, 2013 it had the status of an Austrian private university .
history
The educational institution was founded in 1988 under the name European University Center for Peace Studies (EPU) by Gerald Mader , who also founded the Austrian Study Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ÖSFK), with which the EPU is closely connected. In 1995 she received the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education together with the ÖSFK . From 1995 to 1998 Wolfgang Dietrich was director of the institute. From 1990 EPU offered a postgraduate course in peace research.
On July 11, 2013, the accreditation as a private university was revoked by the Austrian Quality Assurance Agency , but the current Master of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict Studies was still accredited until September 30, 2014. The revocation is final.
