action

The film opens in 1992. David Taylor is the son of Pastor Fred Taylor. David has a talent for singing. He spends his time between school, church and his best friend and future pastor, Charles Frank. When David is at school, he learns that his mother is in the hospital. He rushes over and can say goodbye to his mother. But his father, who was out on church affairs, is late, which makes David very angry.

There is a leap in time of 15 years. David is a budding superstar and lives the fast life of a star, far removed from his church roots. David learns that his father is sick and leaves everything to go home. There he is looking for his father in church, after all it is Sunday. But instead of his father, his old friend Frank, who also married David's cousin Charlene, preaches. David and Frank clash at first, Frank also admits to having his problems.

Not only David is astonished that Frank should take the place of David's father, Minister Hunter had also expected this post.

David is the last to find out that his father has prostate cancer. David confronts Frank why he hadn't told him about his father's illness. David feels very guilty and decides to risk his career and stay with his father. He rediscovers his love for gospel music. He falls in love with a single mother, Rain, who isn't impressed by his fame.

David's father dies. Frank becomes his successor as pastor. David sinks into grief. But he manages to organize a gospel concert that is to be celebrated both as a farewell to his father and as a greeting for Frank. But David and Frank clash again, which is especially difficult for cousin Charlene to endure. A vortex of destruction opens up, parties are seized, and finally clarity and new revelations are born.

Reviews

“The film combines gospel and light music and is carried by some sense of mission, without making the change of heart of its protagonist understandable. After a series of clichés and banalities, it ends in a gospel show. "
