Martha Munizzi , born Martha Denise Stallings (born February 26, 1968 in Lakeland ), is an American gospel singer , songwriter , author and actress .

biography

Martha Munizzi was born into a Christian musical family. Martha and her twin sister, Mary Alessi, grew up as the daughters of preachers in Lakeland, Florida and toured the United States and Canada with their family, with whom they performed sacred music . She had her first appearances as an 8-year-old.

Martha, Mary and their older sister Marvelyne inherited their parents' musical talent. When Mary and Martha were 12 years old, the family settled in Orlando, Florida so the children could attend primary school.

At the urging of a friend, Mary and Martha were 16 years old and Marveline 18 years old and were involved in founding a praise and worship band . From this the Testament group developed, which appeared in churches and at conferences in Florida.

In 1986, a year after finishing high school, Martha married Dan Munizzi, the keyboard and bass player for the band Testament . In 1993 they both became musical directors and founding members of a new congregation in Orlando, starting with 250 members and a choir of about 30 people. Within 8 years the community grew to 5000 members and a 200 member music team. They stayed there until 2001.

She then worked for Lakewood Church when Cindy Cruse-Ratcliff was on maternity leave.

Munizzi lives in Florida with her husband and manager Dan Munizzi and their three children.

Musical career

Together with Ron Kenoly , CeCe Winans , and Israel Houghton , Munizzi is a leader in the field of cross-cultural worship music , which not only combines white and black gospel music, but also brings elements of Hispanic American culture.

Munizzi self-publishes her songs under the name "Say The Name Publishing / Martha Munizzi Music". Her first Praise & Worship / Gospel album Say the Name was released in 2002, followed by The Best Is Yet to Come (2003) and When He Came (2004). The Best Is Yet to Come peaked at # 2 on the Billboard Music Top Gospel Albums chart in 2004 and stayed on the charts for over a year.

In 2004 Munizzi's two music albums were simultaneously in the top five of the Billboard Gospel charts ( The Best Is Yet to Come at # 2 and When He Came at # 5). Billboard nominated her as one of the top five gospel artists of 2004. In addition, her project The Best Is Yet to Come was named one of the top ten selling gospel projects of 2004.

In 2005 she signed a distribution agreement with Integrity Media, Inc. Based on this agreement, her previously released albums, as well as all future releases, were marketed in Christian retail outlets , as well as with Epic Records (a Sony-BMG distribution).

The album No Limits Live debuted at # 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart in 2006 and stayed at the top of the charts for six weeks. Munizzi performs with Christian clergy such as Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer , Benny Hinn , CeCe Winans and the television preacher TD Jakes.
