Eurymedon (son of Minos)
Eurymedon ( Greek Εὐρυμέδων ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
According to the library of Apollodorus, Eurymedon was a son of King Minos of Crete and the nymph Pareia . He had three brothers, Nephalion , Philolaos and Chryses , with whom he lived on the island of Paros . When Heracles set out to carry out his ninth of a total of twelve jobs, during which he had to bring the belt of the Amazon queen Hippolyte to Eurystheus , he and his comrades also sailed to Paros. When two of his men went ashore, they were killed by Eurymedon and his brothers. The four sons of Minos, however, found their own death at the hand of the angry Heracles. The hero now besieged the other inhabitants of the island in their city, but was reconciled through the mediation of envoys of the trapped by receiving two hostages chosen by him as a substitute to accompany him on his further journey. He chose the sons of Androgeos , a stepbrother of Eurymedon, and then sailed from Paros again.
