Eustathians

As Eustathians one after is Eustathius of Sebaste named group of radical ascetics called who demanded absolute possession and celibacy and next to the church fasting and the public services declined. They thus represented serious competition for early Christian monasticism . The Eustathians were condemned around 340 at the Synod of Gangra .

In some sources, the bishop St. Eustathios of Antioch is incorrectly named as the founder of the movement .
