Euston Square is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Camden and one of the oldest underground stations in the world. It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 1, at the intersection of Euston Road and Gower Street, near University College . This is where the Circle Line , Hammersmith & City Line and Metropolitan Line trains stop . In 2014, 14.33 million passengers used the station.

The opening took place on January 10, 1863 by the Metropolitan Railway (predecessor of the Metropolitan Line) as part of the route between Paddington and Farringdon , the oldest underground line in the world. For a few decades, the station was initially called Gower Street and was then given its current name on November 1, 1909. In 2006, a new main entrance was built on Euston Road, right next to the Wellcome Trust building , one of the country's largest charities.

The name suggests that the station is close to Euston train station . However, this is more than 250 meters further northeast and can only be reached via a busy road; there is no connecting tunnel.
