Euthalia irrubescens is a butterfly ( butterflies )found in Asiafromthe noble butterfly family (Nymphalidae).

The fore wing length of the moths is 32 to 41 millimeters, with the males being slightly smaller. Common to both sexes is the yellow-green to blue-green basic color of the upper sides of the wings, which is very clearly cut through by the black veins. Two red blemishes stand out on the front edge of the forewings. The anal angle of the hind wings is reddish in color. The color and drawing of the forewings show through to the undersides of the wings.
Caterpillar
Adult caterpillars are colored green. Fir-branch-like, prickly outgrowths that are pink at the end protrude from each body segment. The white back line is provided with large pink spots.
distribution and habitat
The species occurs in southeast China and primarily inhabits hilly deciduous forests. In Taiwan it is represented by the subspecies Euthalia irrubescens fulguralis .
Way of life
The moths fly between June and August. They like to suckle on damp patches of earth or overripe fruits in order to absorb liquid and minerals. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of the mistletoe-like belt flower plants (Loranthaceae) Taxillus limprichtii and Taxillus nigrans, as well as Scurrula liquidambaricolus , Scurrula ritozanensis and Scurrula parasitica, which are mainly found on mulberry trees ( Morus ) .
