Euthymios I (Jerusalem)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euthymios I was the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem (1082 – after 1084).

Life

Euthymios was court official in Constantinople and was appointed patriarch of Jerusalem by the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos in 1082 . In late 1082 or early 1083 he was sent to Bohemond of Taranto . In December 1083, Euthymius was still in Phillipupolis in Thrace . Therefore, he could not take possession of the patriarchy until 1084. In 1084 Euthymios was again with Emperor Alexios I Komnenos. It was probably about the confiscation of church property by the emperor in 1081.
