Eva Hoeck

Eva Hoeck (* 1917 in Hamburg ; † 1995 in Lahr , Black Forest ) was a German doctor and author.

Life

Eva Lostaja Hoeck received her doctorate in 1945 from the Medical Faculty of the University of Hamburg with a dissertation on pregnancy neuralgia and neuritis and their treatment.

Hoeck emigrated to Yemen as a doctor after the Second World War and practiced first in Taizz for the Crown Prince's harem , then as a doctor in Hadramaut . As a pioneer in health care, Eva Hoeck often came into conflict with everyday Islamic-Arab life, which she describes in her books.

Her most famous experience report as a doctor in the land of the Bedouins has been translated into English, French and in an edition published in Beirut into Arabic.
