The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Seidingstadt is located in Seidingstadt , a district of the Straufhain community in the Hildburghausen district ( Thuringia ).

Because the Seidingstadt hunting lodge was used as the summer residence of the Dukes of Saxony-Hildburghausen , the Seidingstadt local church was, so to speak, a second court church and had its own parish from 1717 to around 1826 . Since then, the place has belonged to the Streufdorf district .

The core of today's church building dates from 1703 and replaced a late Gothic church. In 1836 the church was rebuilt. The nave and the church tower were raised by one storey. A second gallery floor was installed in the nave. The facade is characterized by large arched windows. The organ, which was built in 1836 by the Römhild organ builder Johann Heinrich Schmidt, is located on a gallery in the polygonal choir room. It has ten registers on the manual and pedal . The pulpit is a work of the 18th century, the font, made of sandstone, was created in 1704.

The church tower is on the north side, next to the nave and the chancel. On the ground floor it houses the three meter long and three meter wide sacristy , which is spanned by a rib-free cross vault. The lower two floors are medieval. The tower helmet was put on in 1896 after a fire destroyed the tower roof a year earlier.

In 2000 the church was repaired inside and out. Two bronze bells dating from the construction period were delivered in 1917 and replaced by cast steel bells in 1920. The third and largest bronze bell was melted down in 1943. Static problems made it necessary to build a new belfry in 2013. In 2014, three new bronze bells were cast to replace the worn cast steel bells.
